I'm looking for good horse magazines out there that aren't really focusing on western or dressage but more on jumping and tips and health care tips. Any good ones out there? Thankx.

How much care is really required to own a horse?
I've seen tons of people exaggerate the amount of time and care you need to own a horse. I know plenty of people who own pasture horses that require little maintenance. I am looking into buying a horse and I need realistic answers. One horse. It will be a pleasure horse that will be ridden probably every other day and live in a pasture. And additional information you can provide me with about caring for a horse is welcome

How do care for a horse you don’t see everyday?
Say you go buy some land and put out horse there. You build a barn and shelter and all that good stuff. You see the horse almost everyday (riding, grooming, loving, etc.), but on rare occasion, you don't see the horse for 3 days at the most. How do you feed the horse? And take care of it? No, I do not have a horse, nor do I plan to get one. I'm just curious.

A good book to prepare you for horse care?
Know any good books about horse care? I think I may adopt my first horse in a couple of months. I've never owned my own horse- just leased. I'm interested in books with a lot of good information and advice!
-Please note, i do not need you to explain basic horse care to me. I already know basic horse care. I'm more interested in finding a book that will help me understand advanced horse care- like arthritis and aging ect.
