Do you think i’m taking good care of my horse?
I am 12 years old. I have a 15hh standardbred gelding named Tanner. ( I know this is long but i want to be sure that i am caring for him properly).
My parents own a big pasture, ( i don't know how big exactly). We have a barn but my dad puts his machines in it so he agreed to build a shelter in the pasture but for now my horse sleeps outside.
He lives alone but we are planning to get another horse or a donkey when we get enough money.
I don't own a saddle so i ride ******** whenever i can. (I went to riding lessons for 2 years). When i get a saddle though i will be riding everyday for at least 1 hour.
He eats grass. There is a hay bail in the pasture but he doesnt eat it. In winter he eats hay and oats. He has a huge bucket of water in the pasture that i fill each week. I give him carrots and a apple everyday.
He goes to the farrier every 8 weeks. He doesnt wear horse shoes. He only goes to the vet if he is sick.
I try to brush him everyday but he doesnt like it to much.
Any advice on how to care for him would be great. Thanks.

I want to own a horse one day, what is the average yearly cost excluding renting a stable?
My family owned horses when I was younger so I grew up around them and I ride very well. When I am older, more financially able and have the time I would LOVE to own an Arabian. I dream about it a lot.
I just need to be realistic in my planning, so I need to know about how much it will cost each year to properly take care of my horse.
Thanks!

How do you get horse crazy, motivated?
I have this friend, and she has a horse but she needs something to get her a jump start on taking care of her horse. She is really lazy and just puts off everything with horses to tomorrow. What do I do other than nagging? She has never gotten a vet, coggins, dentist, farrier, the list goes on. But she is my friend and if it gets any worse I and going to call the ASPCA for the animal's sake. Got any tips??
