Taking care of 6 year old horse?
Ok so I've been riding horses for almost 5 years. However, I stopped riding and started up again. Now I ride a 6 year old horse named Tessa who I really love. My parents are considering getting her for my birthday. The problem is, I'm not sure if I can do everything I can for her alone. I have 4 months until my birthday. Should I wait for my next birthday?

What do I need to have to take care of a horse?
I want a horse and I was wondering what exactly I needed to have to be able to take care of a horse. My mom is very experienced with horses, so don't go saying that I just want a horse just to have one, I don't know what I'm getting myself into, blah blah blah. I DO know what I'm getting into. I just wanted to find out what else I need, because I have a lot of things already, just not all.
P.S. I'm not boarding.
She is asleep and I am bored. I kinda can't ask her at this moment, and I don't want to wait.

What breed of horse would you reccomend for a beginner?
I plan on jumping and doing dressage.
And i'm kind of tall (5'7").
I know there are exceptions to every breed, but which are usually good for beginners?
BTW, yes I know how to take care of a horse. I'm just starting to take /riding/ lessons.
Also, if you know of any horses that could meet my needs, please post them. (I live in colorado)
Thanks!
Are QH's okay for lower level shows?
